Use any computer connectable barcode reader to quickly add products or to start and stop specific items on an order.

Working with barcodes

You can order a batch of barcodes first, and then scan them into Booqable, or you can export your products list, which will include the Booqable generated barcode numbers, and have them printed later.   

Supported barcode types

Booqable supports these barcode formats:

  • EAN-8
  • EAN-13
  • Code 39
  • Code 93
  • Code 128

Setting up your barcode scanner to work with Booqable

Booqable should work with any barcode reader that can handle the barcode types mentioned above.
Make sure that after each scan, your barcode reader adds an Enter key/Carriage Return. Refer to your barcode reader's manual for information on how to set this up for your particular device.

Adding barcodes

You can assign a barcode to a product, and its individually trackable stock items to quickly book them in and out of orders. You can also assign barcodes to your customers (e.g. for customer loyalty cards).
When you need to enter a barcode in Booqable, you can do so by scanning the barcode, by typing in the barcode number, or you can have Booqable generate a new barcode for you by leaving the input field blank. 

To assign a barcode to a customer:

  1. View the customer you want to add a barcode to.
  2. In the right sidebar, click Add barcode.

To assign a barcode to a product:

  1. View the product to which you want to add a barcode.
  2. In the right sidebar, click Add barcode.

    for products with Variations, the barcode is added for each variation separately, under the Variations tab.

To assign barcodes to a product's trackable stock items:

  1. When viewing a product, go to the Inventory tab.
  2. Click the barcode icon for each stock item you want to add a barcode to.

Scanning barcodes

Scan barcodes to assign customers and products to an order.
You can also scan barcodes to quickly check items in and out of an order.

To add products to an order:

  1. When booking an order, click the barcode icon at the end of the search bar.
  2. Use your barcode reader to scan the barcode(s) on the product(s) you want to add.
    For individually tracked stock, you can choose to scan a particular stock item, or -if you want to specify a stock item later- a general product barcode.
  3. Click Confirm.

To mark items as picked up or returned

 When your customers comes to pick up or return an order, you'll be prompted to select the items you're handing out or taking back. You can use your barcode scanner to do so:

  1. When viewing an order, click Pickup items or Return items.
  2. Click the barcode icon in the bottom left of the popup.
  3. Scan the items you want to start/stop.

To select a customer:

  1. When booking an order, click Scan to select a customer.
  2. Use your barcode reader to scan the barcode (e.g. on your customer's loyalty card).
