For trackable products, each stock item is managed and tracked individually and has a couple of properties:
To identify and keep track of individual items, each item is assigned a unique identifier. Stock items are numbered automatically, but you can create your own identifiers.
Instead of a serial number or barcode, pick something short, readable, and recognizable.
When you have multiple products that look much alike, you can include information that helps to distinguish them, like the aperture of a lens.
Consider using prefixes to include important information about the item.
If some of the items you rent out belong to a different company for example, you can add the initials of their company name. This will come in handy when you run reports on how much turnover their items generated.
The current status of the stock item. This shows if an item is is in your warehouse or out with a customer.
You can add additional columns for additional properties of your stock items, like a purchase date. These properties are for internal use, and are only displayed in the inventory screen.
Adding and removing trackable stock items
To add trackable stock items:
- In the Inventory tab, click Add stock item at the bottom-right of the list.
Note: If your product has multiple variations, select which variation you're adding from the dropdown.
To archive a trackable stock item:
- Click the Archive icon to the right of the stock item.
Note: Archiving stock items makes them unavailable for future bookings, but its history is retained for future reference.
To temporarily make a product unavailable, you can reserve it on an (internal) order.
