Uploading the right images ensures your store looks professional and performs efficiently. Booqable’s built-in image resizer optimizes most uploads automatically, but there are exceptions and best practices to consider. This guide will help you choose the best image formats, aspect ratios, and sizes for different use cases.

How the image resizer works

Booqable’s image resizer optimizes uploaded images to ensure fast loading and appropriate display. Most images are automatically converted to WebP for better compression, resized for various uses, and optimized for performance. However, PNG files, such as logos, are not converted to WebP to maintain their clarity and sharpness.

Image recommendations by type

  • Company logo

For logos, use PNG format to maintain sharp edges and clarity. A square aspect ratio (1:1) works best, and we recommend uploading images at 1200x1200 pixels to ensure high quality regardless of size. Logos are typically displayed small, so a high-resolution image will appear crisp.

  • Products, collections, variations and bundles

For these images, JPEG is recommended for faster loading, though PNG is an option if high-quality detail is needed. Use a square aspect ratio (1:1) and upload images at 1200x1200 pixels for the best results. Ensure all images in a group maintain a consistent style and aspect ratio to create a cohesive look.

  • Section images (website builder)

Section images vary based on your website’s design. Use high-resolution JPEGs or PNGs and maintain consistent styles for sliders, grids, or hero sections. Aspect ratios depend on the theme or section; for example, hero images are typically large and require higher resolution to look sharp.

Guidelines for best results

  • Use square (1:1) images for logos, products, collections, and bundles, and consistent aspect ratios for section images.

  • JPEG is ideal for speed and compression, while PNG works best for high-detail images like logos.

  • Upload images at 1200x1200 pixels whenever possible. Larger images can be scaled down without losing quality, but scaling up may result in pixelation.

  • The maximum upload size is 5 MB per image.
