Adding a blog and creating blog posts is a great way to improve SEO, discoverability, and highlight your rentals.
Creating blog posts
To begin creating a blog, you will first need content to publish. To populate the blog with your written content and stories, follow these steps:
Go to Online store > Website builder > Blog posts:
Click the Add blog post button to start creating a new blog post or you will find a list of existing blog posts that you can click to edit.
Add a title, select an author, the date you want to publish the article (if a date in the future is selected, you will have the option to schedule the post), and the post content.
You can also edit post content formatting, add a paragraph, image, table, or line divider.
Upload a featured image which will be shown on the blog page and when you share it on social media.
You can also add alt text to help make the image accessible.
Enter an excerpt which is a shortened description of your blog post that will be shown on the blog page.
Edit the information that will be shown in search engines such as:
- Page title
- Meta description
- Slug
Finally, make sure to Save draft, Publish, or Schedule your content so you don't lose any of your work.
To Schedule content, simply choose a Published at date in the future (refer to step 3) and it will give you the option to schedule.
Editing the blog and blog post templates
To customize or edit the look of the blog page and posts:
Go to the Online store > Website builder
Click the Customize button
Click Templates and from the list, find the Blog and Blog post templates
Now you can customize the look of your blog and posts by adding sections or editing existing ones.
Linking your blog on your online store
To link the blog page on your website, add it to your navigation bar:
Go to Online store > Website builder > Menus
Select the menu where you would like to add the Blog
Click Add menu item
Under Link, select Blog from the dropdown menu
Select Blog index
💡Tip: You can also link specific blog articles from the dropdown as well!
Previewing blog posts
If you've published a blog post and would like to quickly see how it appears on your live website, follow these steps:
Go back to Online store > Website builder > Blog posts and click on the post you wish to preview.
Under Blog post, click the Edit blog post template button which will take you directly to your website builder.
From the left sidebar, click on the "example-post" dropdown menu and select the post you would like to preview.
Unpublishing and deleting blog posts
If you would like to take a blog post off your website, but would like to keep the content, then you have the option to unpublish the blog post. This is useful if you need to update information and need it to be private in the meantime.
To do this, edit a published blog post and in the bottom right, click the Unpublish button:
If you want to delete the post entirely, click the Delete post button in the bottom left.
