Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security feature that helps protect your Booqable account by using more then just your password.
This tool allows you to receive verification codes to a mobile device to approve every login to your account. The following article will guide you through how you can easily set up this extra step of security in Booqable.
How it works
In order to set up two-factor authentication in Booqable, you will of course need access to a mobile or tablet device in order to receive the verification codes to sign into Booqable.
1. Enable 2FA using an authenticator app
In Booqable, go to your User account settings, scroll down to Two-factor authentication and click Enable.
Scan the QR code using your authenticator app.
Enter the 6-digit code that's generated by the app and click Continue.
Copy the backup codes and store them somewhere safe. You will need these to access your account when you can't use the authenticator app.
Click Continue to finish setting up 2FA.
2. Enforcing 2FA for all users
An account admin can require two-factor authentication for all users.
Before enforcing two-factor authentication, it's a good idea to communicate your company's plans to your employees, including what is two-factor authentication, and how to set it up.
Go to Settings > Security.
Enable Force two factor authentication
Now, the next time your employees sign in to their Booqable account, they need to go through the steps to set up their authentication method.
FAQ
1. How can I access a locked-out account using backup codes?
During the set up of two-factor authentication for your Booqable account, single-use backup codes will be generated for you to regain access to your account in case you've lost or don't have access to your phone.
Instead of the code that's generated by your authenticator app, you can fill in one of your single-use backup codes.
Once you use a backup code to sign in, that code becomes inactive. You can get a new set of 5 backup codes whenever you want by resetting 2FA. When you reset 2FA, the old codes automatically become inactive.
2. How can I disable or reset 2FA?
You can reset two-factor authentication if you want to use a new device to authenticate or need to generate new backup codes.
In Booqable, go to your User account settings.
Scroll down to Two-factor authentication and click Disable.
Fill out your login credentials to continue.
Optionally, follow the steps to enable 2FA.
💡Note: If your organization enforces two-factor authentication for user accounts, you won't see the Disable button; you can only reset 2FA.
