With the Google Analytics app, you can track events and conversions on your rental website and in your online checkout.
The events you'll be able to track in Google Analytics includes when users open the shopping cart, proceed to checkout, and complete their booking, allowing you to optimize your marketing efforts to make data-driven decisions.
The Google Analytics app tracks the events that occur on your Booqable online checkout, and the Booqable product cards. This is why the following tutorial is applicable for both Booqable website users, and those who have installed Booqable onto their existing website.
How it works
1. Install and add the Google Analytics app
💡Notice: On July 1 2023, Google has transitioned from Universal Analytics to GA4. This guide has been updated to reflect these changes. You can find a guide to migrating your data here if you currently use Universal Analytics.
If you haven't already, follow Google's steps to set up Analytics and Create a GA4 property only.
If you embed Booqable's store on your website, also add Analytics to your website.
Keep in mind the integration only tracks events in the Booqable checkout.
Click on the "App store" tab in the navigation menu.
Select the Google Analytics app and click on "Install app".
Paste your GA4 Measurement ID (e.g., G-123...) in the field labeled Google Analytics ID.
Click Save.
💡Note: Make sure you don't have tracking enabled already in your custom scripts; adding Google Analytics more than once results in inaccurate data.
2. Track and perform events
After installing the Google Analytics app, you will be able to track the following events and conversions.
Title |
|
Show Cart | A customer views the shopping cart page |
Checkout Information | A customer views the checkout page |
Checkout Payment | A customer views the payment step during checkout |
Checkout Completed | A customer views the thank you page in the checkout |
This performs the following standard events below.
Event name | Category | Label |
checkout | information | information |
checkout | payment | payment |
checkout | completed | completed |
This performs the following e-commerce events below.
💡Note: The checkout_progress event is no longer tracked in GA4 and has been removed from this guide.
Event name | Event description |
view_item | A customer views an item |
add_to_cart | A customer adds a product to the shopping cart |
remove_from_cart | A customer removes a product from the shopping cart |
begin_checkout | Initiating the checkout process for one or more products |
purchase | A customer places an order |

2. Once you've entered your app's configuration settings, locate and click on the cogwheel icon situated in the upper-right corner of the screen. You can now manage your subscription plan or uninstall the app.
