Booqable has made it even easier to accept payments in store or in person without the need of a payment terminal.
💡 Note: The Mobile Point of Sale add-on is required to access Tap to Pay features which is only available with the Start, Grow, and Scale plans.
1. Set up Stripe as a payment gateway
Before you can start using Tap to Pay on the Booqable mobile app, make sure to integrate with Stripe to accept payments in Booqable.
2. Set up Tap to Pay in the mobile app
Once you've signed up with Stripe and connected it to your Booqable account, open up the mobile app. If you already opened the app's Settings, make sure to restart the app to establish the connection.
You're now ready to start accepting secure contactless payments. If you navigate to the app's Settings > Set up Tap to Pay, you will find instructions on how this feature works.
3. How to accept payments using Tap to Pay
Go to the order screen.
Tap the Pay button in the bottom left of the order screen.
Or go to the Payments tab and tap New payment.
Make sure to fill in the order and security deposit amounts that you would like to charge by tapping the Edit button next to Charge details before proceeding.
Under Choose payment method, select the Tap to Pay option.
Once connected to the terminal, ask your customer to hold their card horizontally or for digital wallets, hold their device near the contactless symbol.
When the transaction is complete, you're directed to a success screen where you can directly send a finalized invoice to your customer.
Tap the Send invoice button and fill out their email address.
Now you've successfully accepted a secure contactless payment using Tap to Pay!

My customer decided they want to receive an invoice after I already dismissed the prompt to send an invoice. How can I use the app to send it now?
You can send it using the Email function instead. Simply navigate back to the order screen and next to the customer name, tap the email icon.
In the bottom right corner, tap the Attachments icon and select the invoice from here. You can use a template, add more email addresses, and change the subject and content of the email using this method as well.
A payment keeps failing and I'm not sure why.
If your phone locks while in the payment screen, the transaction is interrupted. If this happens, you will need to back out of the payment screen instead of pressing Try again or Choose a different payment method.
What payment methods can customers use?
Customers can pay using contactless debit and credit cards, digital wallets like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay, and compatible wearables such as smartwatches.
Do I need extra hardware to use Tap to Pay?
No. Tap to Pay works directly on a compatible smartphone. There’s no need for a separate card terminal.
Which iPhones support Tap to Pay?
Tap to Pay on iPhone works on iPhone XS and newer models.
Which iOS version is required?
Your iPhone must be running iOS 16 or later.
Which Android phones support Tap to Pay?
Tap to Pay on Android works on phones running Android 8.0 or later with NFC support and Google Play services enabled.
How can I check if my Android phone supports NFC?
You can check NFC availability in your phone’s settings or device specifications.
Is there an extra fee for Tap to Pay transactions?
Yes. Stripe charges an additional $0.10 per Tap to Pay transaction, on top of your standard payment processing fees.
